Festival topics also will include geology, wildflowers and conservation.

DNR gets new manager

Randy Acker is the new Region Manager for the Department of Natural Resources' South Puget Sound Region.

Acker takes his new post May 16.

Acker replaces Eric Schroff, who recently was appointed as Region Manager of Natural Resources' Pacific Cascade Region.

Acker has served as Director of Governmental Relations and the agency's legislative liaison since January of 2001.

Acker came to Natural Resources as the department's budget director in 1992 and served in that capacity until 1994, when he took over the newly created Resource Protection Division.

Acker earned a master of public administration degree in 1986 from the University of Washington. He also holds a Master of Science in Natural Resources from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
